About this certificate

The Pilates Please Comprehensive Teacher certificate is our own studio credential. The programme is built to the shape of the published comprehensive benchmarks so graduates are well positioned to apply for national certification, but we award no third-party accreditation and make no such claim.

What you'll study

  1. The Comprehensive Method: History, Principles and Scope

How the full apparatus system fits together, what Joseph Pilates built each piece for, and the limits of your role as a teacher.

  2. Functional Anatomy for the Full Studio

The anatomy a comprehensive teacher needs: spine, pelvis, shoulder girdle, hips and the effect of springs and levers on load.

  3. Mat and Reformer Integration

Revisiting the mat and reformer repertoire as one system, and choosing between them for a given client and goal.

  4. The Wunda Chair: Repertoire and Teaching

The chair repertoire from footwork to pull up, with the load logic, spotting and readiness rules the chair demands.

  5. The Cadillac and Tower: Repertoire and Teaching

Roll down bar, leg springs, arm springs, push through bar and tower prep, and how spring height changes everything.

  6. Barrels and Small Props

Ladder barrel, spine corrector, magic circle, balls, bands and rollers as tools for extension, side bending and support.

  7. Screening, Assessment and Movement Observation

A repeatable screening and observation process for new clients across the full studio.

  8. Programming Across the Full Studio

Building privates, duets and progressions that move between apparatus with purpose and good transitions.

  9. Special Populations and Adaptation

Working within clearance for pregnancy and postnatal, osteoporosis, hypermobility, older adults and clients returning from injury.

  10. Teaching Groups and Studio Sessions

Running mixed-apparatus studio sessions and equipment classes safely with several clients at once.

  11. The Business and Ethics of Teaching

Professional conduct, boundaries, consent, records, insurance, continuing education and honest marketing.

  12. Certification, Hours and Final Assessment

What the 450-hour Pilates Please Comprehensive certificate requires and how each part is assessed.
